On 30th October and 6th November 2016 CAE Validus held a workshop on person-centered planning for parents and their adult children with disabilities with the aim to empower them through exchanging experiences and mutual connection.
The workshop was led by Patti Scott and David Hasbury, experts from US-based organization Neighbours International and Bojana Rozman, Ph.D., with more than 10 years of experience working with organizations on developing a person-centered approach to service and care.
Patti and David presented their organization that provides support to people with disabilities to have control of their lives and described years of experience in the development of creative forms of community support and the transformation of traditional into individualized and self-determined support providers.
It was discussed about the problems which parents face while ensuring their children similar life to their peers. Parents have also expressed a wish for connection and empowerment in order to jointly be able to act and express the needs to competent ministries in the future.
