Personal Assistant to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities
This certified training focuses on staff training working with people with intellectual disabilities in the community as well as on those participants who do not have any experience in the supporting service, but they would like to work at the provider of support within the welfare system.

Competencies that participant acquires by the end of the training:
  • to become familiar with contemporary models of community based support for the persons with disability
  • to understand the meaning of human rights
  • to understand the principles of person centered approach and to distinguish between institutional and person centered planning
  • to recognize person’s basic needs and understand their behavior
  • to communicate with and support persons with intellectual disabilities in the process of communication and to understand how to support them in the process of decision making
  • to understand the importance of inclusion in activities and relationships at home and in the community along with potential risks of non-inclusion, non-activity, boredom and isolation
  • to implement principles of active support for the person to receive assistance according to his/her individual needs
  • to provide support to the person in everyday activities
  • to work in an appropriate manner in the community based services; to implement business ethics; to appreciate fundamental human rights
  • to implement rules of occupational health and to administer first aid
Duration: the program consists of 237 hours of regular classroom teaching and consultative-instructive teaching (theory – 97 hours, workshops – 60 hours and hands-on training – 80 hours).

Amission: the age of 18, minimum high school diploma and a medical certificate of health ability for performing a job of the personal assistant to persons with intellectual disabilities.

The official certificate will be given upon the completion of this training program and the final exam.
All students are provided with educational material developed according to the curriculum.

Program price: HRK 5,500.00 (for a minimum of 15 participants). The price also depends on the training location.
Helpers to Persons with Intellectual Disabilities in Supported Housing
This certified training is focused on training staff for less complex tasks in supported housing service to people with intellectual disabilities in the community as well as on those who dont have working experience in providing support.

Competencies that participant acquires by the end of the training:
  • To distinguish inclusion methods and apply them in working with persons with intellectual disabilities to help them be more involved in the community activities, working activities, meaningful leisure, as well as in providing support in making everyday decisions.
  • To recognize person’s basic needs, to communicate with them in an appropriate manner and to implement the codes of business ethics.
  • To use methods of active support in everyday activities (personal hygiene, care about place of living, food preparation, use of public transport, maintaining friendships and acquaintances).
  • To apply health and safety measures for persons with intellectual disabilities.
  • To implement rules of occupational health and to administer first aid
        Duration: the program consists of 134 hours of regular classroom teaching and consultative-instructive teaching (theory – 62 hours, workshops – 32 hours and hands-on training – 40 hours).

        Amission: the age of 18, minimum elementary school diploma and a medical certificate of health ability for performing the job of the helper to persons with intellectual disabilities in supported housing.

        The official certificate will be given upon the completion of this training program and final exam.

        Program price: HRK 3,500.00 (for a minimum of 15 participants). The price also depends on the training location.
        Assistant to Persons with Mental disabilities in Supported Housing
        This certified training is focused on the training of staff working with people with mental (psychosocial) disabilities in the community as well as for those participants who, apart from having fulfilled formal requirements for admission, have expressed interest, motivation and sensitivity towards working with persons with mental disabilities.

        Competencies that participant acquires by the end of the training:
        • To distinguish the basic types of mental illnesses and to understand their impact on a person
        • To identify the basic needs of persons with psychosocial disabilities and communicate appropriately
        • To use the approach of providing person centered active support in everyday life activities
        • To communicate appropriately with co-workers applying the rules of business ethics
        • To implement the concept of recovery, empowerment as well as building and maintaining friendships and connections
        • To provide support to a person in their daily lives in an apartment and community
        • To provide the needed amount of support to persons in order for them to be successful in everyday life activities
        • To apply safety and concern for the health of persons with psychosocial disabilities
        • To implement rules of occupational health and to administer first aid
                      Duration: the program consists of 165 hours of regular classroom teaching and consultative-instructive teaching (theory – 69 hours, workshops – 31 hours and hands-on training – 65 hours).

                      Amission: the age of 18, minimum high school diploma and a medical certificate of health ability for performing the job of the assistant to persons with mental disabilities in supported housing.

                      The official certificate will be given upon the completion of this training program and final exam.
                      All students are provided with educational material developed according to the curriculum.

                      Program price: HRK 4,500.00 (for a minimum of 15 participants). The price also depends on the training location.
                      Assistant to Persons with Disabilities in Supported Employment
                      This program is focused on training of assistants for providing individualized support to persons with intellectual and/or psychosocial (mental) disabilities in the working environment which includes the preparation and adaptation of persons with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities in the new work environment, support in performing the work task, encouraging and supporting social integration of persons into the working environment as well as regular monitoring and supporting in order to achieve operational efficiency, quality of work life and this way retaining long-term employment.

                      Competencies that participant acquires by the end of the training:
                      • To identify the needs of people with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities in the workplace
                      • To use person centered approach to support people with intellectual and/or psychosocial difficulties in preparing and performing the tasks using techniques of active support
                      • To use the principles of person centered approach and active support in promoting social interaction and development of natural support in the workplace
                      • To communicate appropriately with people with intellectual and/or psychosocial disabilities as well as with other people in the working environment of person (co-workers, colleagues and superiors)
                      • To identify crisis situations and respond to them appropriately
                      • To apply security measures and occupational health and to administer first aid.
                              Duration: the program consists of 149 hours of regular classroom teaching and consultative-instructive teaching (theory – 46 hours, workshops – 23 hours and hands-on training – 80 hours).

                              Amission: the age of 18, minimum high school diploma and a medical certificate of health ability for performing the job of the assistant to persons with disabilities in supported employment

                              The official certificate will be given upon the completion of this training program and final exam.
                              All students are provided with educational material developed according to the curriculum.

                              Program price: HRK 3,900.00 (for a minimum of 15 participants). The price also depends on the training location.
