On January 14th and 15th 2014, the Association for Promoting Inclusion (API) organized the third module of training on person-centered planning within the framework of the European project “New Path to Inclusion Network“. Representatives from NGO’s, residential institutions and several people with intellectual disabilities with their assistants participated in the training.
In the third module, the participants were introduced to the concept and importance of the circles of support and connections in the community. The importance of building relationships with people from the community was discussed, and what strategies are needed to support the development of relationships with community members. Through various exercises during the training, participants had the opportunity to talk to each other and describe their circle of support and exchange views through their own experiences.The participants also had opportunity to learn about facilitation and explore graphic facilitation.
